The Cleveland Cavaliers are right in the thick of rumors once again. As such, some rumors swirled about a potential trade involving Darius Garland. After the year Garland had, it would be surprising for the Cavs to trade him, and those rumors have been debunked already. Teammate Donovan Mitchell took to Twitter to hilariously call out the Garland trade buzz in epic fashion.
‘I see we are bored this beautiful afternoon.’
Mitchell, who came over to the Cavs last year in a blockbuster trade, fit right into the team’s mold as they made a trip to the playoffs. Now, he is wasting no time calling out these trade reports. Garland also responded to Mitchell’s Tweet with one simple emoji.
With Collin Sexton being sent to the Utah Jazz in the Mitchell deal, Garland got even more playing time. He finished the season with 21.6 PPG and 7.8 assists as the Garland-Mitchell duo was sensational all season long. Garland finished just short of his career high in points (21.7 the season before) but he also averaged 20.6 PPG in five playoff games against the New York Knicks.
The Cavs’ future looks bright with Evan Mobley, Donovan Mitchell, and Darius Garland in town, not to mention the Cavs selecting Emoni Bates in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft.
At this point in the NBA offseason, trade rumors always circulate, but the Darius Garland buzz should be wiped away completely. NBA insider Brian Windhorst also shut down those talks. It sure doesn’t look like Garland is going anywhere this summer, and the Cavs should be a popular pick to be one of the top-4 teams in the Eastern COnference next season.
