Tristan Thompson went to the Eastern Conference Finals multiple times during his time playing alongside LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He helped the Cavs win the East Finals four times, to be exact. At this point, the one-time NBA champ believes that this is exactly where Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs are headed if they keep their foot on the gas.

The Cavs have been on an absolute tear of late. They have won all six of their games in the month of February, which includes a noteworthy 128-113 win over Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies on February 2nd.

According to Thompson, he has no doubt in his mind that Cleveland is set to go all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals if they keep up this pace:

“I’m gonna stand on this right now: If they play the way they’re playing right now, Cavaliers [will be] Eastern Conference Finalists,” Tristan said.

It’s hard to argue against Thompson’s bold guarantee here, especially if you consider how outstanding Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs have been over their last few games. In their last six matchups, Cleveland has defeated their opponents by an average of 17.3 points. They haven’t exactly been going up against top-tier competition, but they were able to take down the Grizzlies (by 15 points) and the New Orleans Pelicans (by 11 points) during that span.

The Cavs are now fourth in the East with a 37-22 record and are just 5.0 games behind the league-best Boston Celtics. Based on what he’s seeing from Cleveland of late, Tristan Thompson is confident that this squad is headed for big things this season.
