Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell talked about his excitement for the arrival of Eastern Michigan forward Emoni Bates at the Fanatics’ Merch Madness Fan Gear Giveaway on Tuesday, Fox News Digital sports writer Scott Thompson wrote in a Wednesday article.
“Speaking at Fanatics’ inaugural Merch Madness Fan Gear Giveaway in Harlem, New York, on Tuesday, Mitchell explained his excitement for Bates’ arrival in Cleveland,” Thompson wrote.
“‘I’ve known him for a little bit, so I’m excited to get him in Cleveland,’ he told Fox News Digital of the 6-foot-9, 190-pound forward. ‘He’s got a lot of talent, man. A lot of talent. He’s going to be able to help us for sure.'”
The Cavs selected Emoni Bates with the No. 49 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft last Thursday. He averaged 19.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game in his one season at Eastern Michigan and the second year of his collegiate career. Donovan Mitchell dropped a fired-up tweet the day after the draft.

Donovan Mitchell participated in the Fanatics’ Merch Madness Fan Gear Giveaway. The event was part of Fanatics’ annual Global Volunteer Day, according to a Tuesday article from Bleacher Report Breaking News Team Writer Scott Polacek. The inaugural Merch Madness fan giveaway event took place in five states, with the Harlem event being held at Frederick Douglass Academy.
