Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Derrick Rose will return tonight as the team takes on the New York Knicks, according to cleveand.com.

Rose missed the last four games with a sprained left ankle as the Cavs have come out of the gates relatively slow this season.

During Rose’s absence, LeBron James started at point guard and the Cavs also went with Iman Shumpert starting in the “point guard” spot as well, although James of course remained the primary playmaker with Rose out.

In just two games so far this season, Rose is averaging 13.0 points and 1.5 assists. The Cavs lost three of the four games while Rose was out.

Last season, Rose played his only season with the Knicks and had mild success posting averages of 18.0 points and 4.4 assists per night before deciding to sign with the Cavaliers this offseason.

Tonight’s game will be a home bout for the Cavs who are looking to find some consistency to this point in the year. Rose’s injury surely through the team for a loop and other changes to the starting lineup have also been made with J.R. Smith replacing Dwyane Wade, who began the season as a starter.

It’s led James to make comments about how the team is still working to understand each other since so many of the lineups used haven’t played together much. Rose could help in that department returning tonight.
