On Monday, former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin sat down with Dave McMenamin on ESPN’s The Jump to discuss Kyrie Irving’s recent request for a trade. While most hoops fans and analysts have casted stones at Irving for his desire to cut his own path, Griffin showed a certain level of admiration for the crafty ball-handler’s willpower.

Since news of Irving’s request was made public, all forms of media have been speculating on where he might land — if Cavs owner Dan Gilbert grants his wish.

Several teams (as many as 20) have shown interest in the former Duke standout, including the Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves. For now, though, Irving, who is still under contract for two more seasons, remains on the roster.

There is no question that Irving has been an important part of Cleveland’s recent success, but will he be at training camp, as Gilbert suggested in a live press conference last month? Or will the Cavs agree to move on?
