Darius Garland and the Cleveland Cavaliers have a tough assignment Tuesday night, as they are in the City of Brotherly Love to face Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers. In a hilarious moment before the game, the Cavs guard went over to Maxey to ask for some of the latter’s “powers.”

“Give me all your powers right now,” Garland told Maxey, who then said “What powers? I ain’t got nothing.”

It was a fun exchange just before what was expected to be a fierce battle on the court between the two Eastern Conference powerhouses. The Sixers entered the Cavs game on a two-game win streak, while Cleveland had won all of its previous three outings, including a statement 121-109 victory over the reigning NBA champions Denver Nuggets at home on Sunday.

Maxey is indeed having a tremendous season with the Sixers. No longer in the shadows of James Harden, the former Kentucky Wildcats star woke up Tuesday with season averages of 26.8 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game — all career-highs. Garland isn’t too shabby either, as the Vanderbilt Commodores walked into the date with the Sixers carrying averages of 19.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per outing while shooting close to 50 percent from the field.

The future is so bright for both Maxey and Garland, who have not even reached their true potential yet in the NBA.

Maxey and Garland will see more of each other this season, with the Cavs and the Sixers scheduled to share the court a total of four times in the 2023-24 NBA regular season.
