The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to a strong 2022-2023 start. However, they are looking forward to the return of star Darius Garland. Cavs’ head coach J.B. Bickerstaff recently said Garland participated in on-court activities on Tuesday, per Evan Dammarell. Although Darius Garland will not play Wednesday against the Magic, he is seemingly on track to return sooner rather than later.
The Cavs are hoping he can return within the week.
Darius Garland is fresh off of an All-Star caliber 2021-2022 campaign that saw him average just under 22 points per game on 46 percent field goal and 38 percent three-point shooting. He added just under 9 assists for good measure. The Cavs were on the verge of making a deep playoff run before injuries derailed them. Nevertheless, Cleveland believes in Darius Garland.
The addition of Donovan Mitchell to play alongside Garland provides the team with a dynamic duo. Meanwhile, their front court talent is solid with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley leading the way.
Cavs fans and players are excited for Darius Garland to return to the floor. But there is no sense in rushing him back this early in the season. J.B. Bickerstaff and Cleveland’s coaching staff will exercise patience in reference to Garland’s return. With that being said, Bickerstaff’s latest update suggests that Garland is going to rejoin the team very soon.
The Cavs will face the Magic on Wednesday and then will matchup with the defending Eastern Conference champion Celtics in Boston on Friday. Darius Garland’s status is uncertain for the Cavaliers-Celtics clash.
