The Cleveland Cavaliers emerged as one of the more exciting teams in the NBA this season, as they finished 44-38 while making the play-in tournament. Led by rising stars, such as Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, the Cavs clearly have a bright future, even if the 2022 season didn’t quite end the way they wanted it to. Speaking in an interview with GQ Sports, Garland spoke about the Cavs, offering up a sales pitch of sorts ahead of the NBA offseason.

We’re a young team, we’re fun to watch, it’s a lot of exciting basketball: threes, alley oops and dunks. Why not invest in us? We can only get better. We young and we lit.

It meant a lot to see that confidence from the front office in me. Just knowing that if anything was to go wrong, they’ll have my back. I’m there for Cleveland. I love the city of Cleveland, I love the people and organization, so it’s cool just being there.

Garland said that the team is “young” and filled with “exciting basketball” players, emphasizing that there’s nowhere to go but up for Cleveland.

The Cavs star also expressed his gratitude to President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman and the rest of the organization for saying they felt fortunate to have him in Cleveland. Garland said he loves the city and the organization as a whole.

It’s clear that the Cavs are treating Garland the right way, something that should be notable for 2022 free agents- and fellow backcourt star Collin Sexton, who is seeking a long-term contract extension.
