Everybody expects Darius Garland to have a breakout campaign in 2021-22. As it turns out, even the Cavs rising star himself is confident that he’s about to take his game to another level this coming season.

The Cavs youngster is adamant that he’s going to incorporate some of Stephen Curry’s best features into his own game. It’s not just the Golden State Warriors stud Garland intends to copy, though. There are three more superstar point guards on his mind:

“I watch a lot of guys,” Garland responded when asked who he compares his game to, via Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype. “Stephen Curry. Kyrie Irving. Chris Paul. I like Damian Lillard a lot. I try to take bits of pieces in their games and put them in mine.”

Garland isn’t exactly at the same level as these four all-time greats, but what you cannot deny is that the 21-year-old Cavs guard is not lacking in confidence. For him to even consider mentioning his name in the same breath as Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, and Damian Lillard definitely takes a lot of self-belief.

At this point, however, this statement from Garland does not actually sound absurd. The Cavs guard possesses enough untapped potential for us to believe that he could reach the same heights as his idols someday. That day might not be too far away, actually.
