Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was ejected from Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers for taking a below-the-belt shot at Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton. Afterward, Doncic claimed the nut-punch wasn’t on purpose and explained that it sort of just happened in the heat of the action.

Sexton took the high road in his own response:

This was probably the right tactic to take for Collin Sexton. While it would have been easy to start a beef with the Mavs superstar, Sexton is brushing it off as no big deal.

Sexton led the Cavs with 24 points in Sunday’s game, but Cleveland was no match for a hot Mavs team, even after Doncic was ejected. Dallas cruised to a 124-97 victory as the Cavs continue to stumble toward the finish line. Sexton’s Cavs dropped to 21-47 on the season.

It has been a rather eventful last few weeks for Sexton. He was recently the subject of a report claiming teammates aren’t a fan of his playing style, prompting him to speak out on his critics as he continues to try to improve in his third season.

The 22-year-old is indeed having a career season in Year 3, averaging 24.4 points, 4.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 35.6 minutes per game. Sexton is shooting 48.0% from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range.

The Cavs are hoping the backcourt duo of Collin Sexton and Darius Garland will help lead them forward in the future. While this season has once again been a struggle for the team, there have been flashes of potential. Cleveland could still use more high-level talent, but the SexLand duo is a fun one.
