The Cavs have just received a major blow ahead of their must-win game against Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night. With the seventh seed in the East on the line in a winner-take-all Play-In game, the Cavs will be without All-Star big man Jarrett Allen as they attempt to take down the mighty Nets.
This comes via NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic who reports that Allen has failed to recover in time from his lingering finger injury:
“Cavaliers All-Star center Jarrett Allen is out for Play-In Tournament game vs. Nets on Tuesday night. Allen has been rehabbing a fractured left finger that he suffered March 6,” tweeted Shams.
Allen is without a doubt one of the most important players for the Cavs and this recent development puts Cleveland at a major disadvantage against Brooklyn. Nevertheless, the Cavs have been preparing to face the Nets without their cornerstone big man, so it’s going to be business as usual for them.
The Cavs have not provided a timetable for Allen’s return but it’s possible that the 6-foot-11 center could return for Cleveland’s next game. Cavs fans are hoping that this will be against the second-seeded Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.
