Cavs, TrustedSec

On Tuesday morning, the Cleveland Cavaliers announced that they have added TrustedSec as their “Official Cyber Security Partner.” As part of the new partnership, fans visiting Quicken Loans Arena will have an extra layer of protection when using the team’s Wi-Fi and local area networks. The new deal will also add another level of security to the Cavs’ 11 web properties and two mobile apps:

“The importance of cyber security cannot be understated and through our partnership with TrustedSec, the arena’s Wi-Fi, local area network and Cavs web properties are being tested and protected by some of the best and brightest cyber security consultants in the world,” Cavs CIO Mike Conley said in an official statement. “We’re confident that the abilities of our in-house IT team combined with the expertise of TrustedSec, our fan’s personal information and online integrity is safe and secure when connected with our network and online properties.”

TrustedSec is a well-known company in the Northeast Ohio area. Founded in Cleveland and based in Strongsville, their goal is to provide cyber security tests, hacking simulations, security audits and several other services that are meant to help businesses around the globe stay sharp on the latest digital threats:

“This is a true partnership in every sense of the word,” said Dave Kennedy, Founder and CEO of TrustedSec. “We will work closely with Cavs leadership and IT team to protect their fans online and build up a top-notch cybersecurity program which other NBA teams can follow. We applaud the Cavs for their proactive stance on cybersecurity and the protection of their fans. We are proud to team up with our hometown Cavs and look forward to a great relationship for many years to come.”

Network security is an important variable that all organizations must address in this era. It’s nice to see the Cavs stepping up to the plate.

The Cavs (12-46 and fifth in the Central Division standings) will be back in action on Thursday night, when they’ll serve as hosts to the Phoenix Suns.
