The Cleveland Cavaliers enter the offseason earlier than they had hoped after losing to the New York Knicks in five games. On Thursday, the players stepped up to the podium and answered a ton of questions. One player with question marks surrounding him is Caris LeVert, who is hitting free agency this summer after a strong season with the Cavs.
However, LeVert and the Cavs have expressed a mutual desire to return for another run, per Spencer Davies.
“Absolutely. Definitely want to be a part of this culture and this team…The front office has expressed it as well.”
LeVert came over from the Indiana Pacers and has been a massive part of the rotation. But, he has admitted he wants to return and revealed the culture is a big reason why (h/t Danny Cunningham of ESPN).
“I definitely want to be a part of this culture, be a part of this team. This group is a super special group and I definitely want to be a part of that. But you all know it’s a business, so we’ll see what happens this summer.”
LeVert finished the season averaging 12.1 PPG in 74 contests and an average of 30:13 minutes, so his role in Cleveland is a big one.
LeVert scored double digits in four of the five playoff games, including 24 in Game 2 and 17 points in Games 3 and 4.
It remains to be seen exactly what LeVert’s market will look like, but he was been very productive since coming to Cleveland. If he returns, there’s a good chance the Cavs starting five is back together next season, although who knows what happens during the offseason.
