The weird summer of the Cleveland Cavaliers just went up notches if reports of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving hooking up in Miami last weekend are indeed true.

This much was told by ESPN’s Tony Rizzo on the Really Big Show, where he had the following to say:

“From very reliable sources. Plural. Kyrie and LeBron were in the same room over the weekend in Florida…Apparently these guys were in the same room and here’s the deal. I don’t know if there’s a thawing out process. All I do know is LeBron didn’t punch Kyrie the way Stephen A thought he would. I can report that. As for what they talked about or discussed…it was very cool. They didn’t get into any heated discussions.”

The relationship between James and Irving seems to have soured and on the verge of total erosion after, especially after the explosive revelation of the latter’s request for a trade. From there, the two have exchanged what has been interpreted as subtle shots at each other on social media, and the Cavs exploring several trade options for Irving. But this reported meeting in Miami between the two stars is a huge sidestep from the established narrative.

While Rizzo’s story could be fairly described as dubious, the idea of James personally meeting a fellow teammate with whom he’s had a well-documented rift with isn’t exactly fresh news. Back in 2015, Kevin Love signed a five-year contract with the Cavs following a poolside sit-down with the four-time MVP.

It’s all about speculations for now, but hopefully for Cavs fans, this is a step in the team fully ironing out all its issues just in time for the regular season, as the team tries to defend their Eastern Conference crown and reclaim the NBA title they lost to the Golden State Warriors back in June.
