It’s J.R. Smith’s birthday today, which means that it’s one of those rare days when the Cleveland Cavaliers’ sharpshooter’s phone is receiving more messages than the number of ill-advised jumpers Smith takes in a game on average. And perhaps there’s no bigger celebrity that has greeted Smith a happy birthday than his teammate and four-time NBA MVP, LeBron James.
In an Instagram post, James let out a warm message for Smith on the Cavaliers sharpshooter’s 32nd birthday.

LeBron James and J.R. Smith have been together on the Cavs’ roster since the 2014-15 season but their friendly relationship goes way beyond that with James saying they’ve known each other since their high-school days.
Their bond surely has been strengthened by their journey to the top of the NBA when the Cavaliers won Cleveland’s first-ever NBA title last year in dramatic fashion, and they’re bound to forge more meaningful memories together, as they try to help Cleveland reclaim the crown it lost to the Golden State Warriors last season.
No word yet on whether James is also willing to sponsor a free-flowing supply of Hennessey for this special occasion in Smith’s life.
