Now that Kyrie Irving has found a new home in Beantown and is a former Cleveland Cavalier, the subtle social media barb exchanges between him and LeBron James can finally lay to rest. At the end of the day, both players were part of something special in Cleveland, and James wants his former running mate to know just how much he appreciates sharing the court on the same team with him via a heartfelt tweet.

Along with some kind words on James’ tweet is an attached video from a fan showing an Irving Cavs jersey on the ground — an image most internet users would primarily associate to the timeless tradition of burning the threads of a former star player – and topped with a thank you note.

LeBron James has been reportedly one of the biggest reasons why Kyrie Irving was traded to the Celtics. It’s not that James lobbied for that trade to happen, but it was the shadow that he casted on Irving that the latter simply could not take anymore.

With Kyrie Irving getting his wish, the season-opening game for the Cavs and the Celtics scheduled on October 17 at Irving’s old stomping ground, the Quicken Loans Arena, just got way more interesting.
