Team owner Dan Gilbert officially introduced Koby Altman as the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ new general manager in a live press conference from Cleveland Clinic Courts on Wednesday afternoon. After Gilbert answered several different questions with regards to the state of the team, Altman had the opportunity to speak on the matter.

“This thing is not broken,” Altman said in his press conference. “We are a successful organization, and we are going to continue to strive for that success. I’ve been here. I know this organization really well. I have deep relationships across all levels of this organization. I’m ready for the challenge.”

As most fans of the team know, Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving requested a trade in a meeting with Gilbert and Altman earlier this month. When asked about said meeting, Gilbert said he “doesn’t feel appropriate” talking about it.

“I sat down with Kyrie and his agent last week,” Gilbert said. “We do this every summer, whether their contract is coming up or not. There were several scenarios discussed at the time, but I don’t feel appropriate discussing them. We talked about a wide range of possibility for the future. We think that Kyrie is one of the best guards in the NBA. We value his talent tremendously.”

It looks like we’ll just have to wait and see if the Cavs will acquiesce to Uncle Drew’s wishes.
