The Cleveland Cavaliers have enjoyed watching third overall draft choice Evan Mobley perform well at the Las Vegas Summer League. The former USC Trojans star has been impressive in Las Vegas, but Cavs fans will have to wait to see him play again.
According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Mobley is being shut down for the remainder of the time in Las Vegas.
Mobley played well and flashed his abilities, something the Cavs got excited about with the pairing of Mobley and Jarrett Allen, who signed a massive deal once NBA free agency started.
Mobley did a little bit of everything in the Summer League, but it is a bit surprising to see them shut down Mobley, especially considering he could greatly benefit from the game experience against NBA talent.
Either way, Mobley had plenty of highlights in Las Vegas.
The Cavs young roster of Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Isaac Okoro– who is also in the Summer League– and the talented bigs could make for a surprisingly fun team in the 2021-2022 NBA season.
The decision to shut him down is surprising, but perhaps they prefer not to risk any injury to their future star center. So, everybody has to wait some time to see Mobley suit up in a Cavs uniform again.
