Cavs’ Annihilation Of Hawks Described By Personnel In Brutal Fashion

For the Cleveland Cavaliers, Wednesday night was simply magical. They were in the zone, especially in the first half when they hit a playoff record 18 three pointers.

Of those threes made in the first 24 minutes, the late ones were already bordering on joke-like. They were pretty much heat checks, and the Cavs definitely stayed hot. Converting that many shots in a game is already laudable, but doing that only in the first half is unheard of.

While the experience was surreal for everyone who cheered for the good guys, it was the exact opposite for the Atlanta Hawks.

In fact, Cleveland.com`s Chris Haynes tweeted one Hawks personnel`s description of how it was like on the receiving end.

No matter how good their defense was supposed to be, there’s just no solution to a team that was in the zone like the Cavs were last night.

I’m pretty sure no one has been hit by a machine gun 25 times live to tell the story. It is such an improbable scenario, much like helplessly seeing your opponent drain 25 three pointers over you.

To put it in perspective, the not-so-old playoff record which was erected by the Golden State Warriors about a week ago was 21 made threes in a game. Even for a team like the Warriors, it is already quite a feat. But the Cavaliers did not just break the mark. They destroyed it.

Much like destroying a bridge when you’re being chased. Well, the Cavs did it using an automatic.
