There are several teams battling for the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft, but it doesn’t seem like it will matter. Why? Because Duke Blue Devils phenom Zion Williamson, the consensus top prospect in the draft, will only play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a source close to the star.

The source said that Williamson wants to “follow in the footsteps of LeBron James” and play for the Cavaliers. Williamson is also apparently intrigued by the idea of playing alongside of guard Collin Sexton, who is currently in his rookie season with Cleveland.

So, what does this mean for teams like the New York Knicks and the Phoenix Suns? Well, they will have to look elsewhere if they do end up getting the No. 1 overall selection.

The source added that Williamson is particularly against playing for the Knicks:

“He doesn’t want to play in a big market, and New York is the biggest of them all,” said the source. “He also is not crazy about Phoenix because of the constant hot weather and the questionable front office. He really just prefers Cleveland.”

But what if another team ends up getting the No. 1 pick?:

“No matter who gets the No. 1 pick, Zion only wants the Cavs,” said the source.

A duo of Zion Williamson and Collin Sexton is certainly interesting, and with the way Cedi Osman has been playing this season, the Cavaliers would definitely have a nice group of young talent if they do, in fact, end up landing Williamson.

That’s also operating under the assumption that something like this actually happens, because this was an April Fools’ Day joke.

Gotchya.
