In his third NBA season James averaged 31.4 points, seven rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. James became the youngest player in league history to average 30 points per game. James also played in his second All-Star game and became the youngest player to be named the MVP of the event. James finished second in MVP voting in the NBA behind Steve Nash. The Cavs would go on to make the playoffs for the first time since 1998, but lost in the second round to the Pistons. James went on to sign a three year, $60 million with a player option for the fourth season.
