Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers made his presence felt for Team Canada in the FIBA World Cup. The Cavs center finished with a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds against Brazil.

Below is his highlight reel as posted by the Basketball World Cup Twitter account:

As observed, he was matched up against former teammate Anderson Varejao who finished with 10 points and four rebounds. Team Canada won, 85-77.

Unlike his role with the Cavs, Thompson was involved in a lot of pick-and-roll action. In Cleveland, he would just usually set the pick for LeBron James and immediately box out for a potential offensive rebound. But with Team Canada, he was often the recipient of passes from the likes of Corey Joseph of the Indiana Pacers.

Last season with the Cavaliers, Thompson just played 53 games due to a calf strain. He was also involved in some controversies outside the basketball court. Last year was his worst season so far as he averaged just 5.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. In the postseason, Thompson showed glimpses of his old self and was a critical part of the team’s run to the NBA Finals.

Cleveland fans are hoping that Thompson’s solid play in the FIBA World Cup will carry over to the upcoming regular season in the NBA.
