On Tuesday morning, Cavs superstar LeBron James announced that he will serve as the voice of Gwangi in Warner Animation Group’s animated feature film, Smallfoot.

Who (or what) is Gwangi, you ask? The character, blueish-purple, hairy, and quite large in size, is actually based on a Yeti (or Sasquatch, if you prefer) — with a twist of humor, of course.

Other stars taking part in the film include Channing Tatum (Migo), James Corden (Percy), Zendaya (Meechee), Common (Stonekeeper), Gina Rodriguez (Kolka), Danny DeVito (Dorgle), Yara Shahidi (Brenda), Ely Henry (Fleem), and Jimmy Tatro (Thorp). A smashing list of talent, to be sure.

Smallfoot, which is based on a story by Spanish animator Sergio Pablos (Despicable Me), will be directed by Ryan O’Loughlin, Karey Kirkpatrick, and Jason Reisig, with script writing from Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love as well as Cats & Dogs).

According to IMDb, “A Yeti is convinced that the elusive creatures known as “humans” really do exist, despite her society’s assertions to the contrary.”

Production of the new film is said to be underway now, and if all goes well, it will be in cinemas on September 14th.
