Despite already being part of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization, the love that Isaiah Thomas have for his old Boston Celtics team is undeniable. He had the best years of his basketball career, thus far, wearing the team’s iconic green. His sacrifices are well documented. And his bitter exit is public knowledge.

That’s why upon learning of an ESPN headline about a story on Kyrie Irving’s clutch game, Isaiah Thomas made it a point to relay his disappointment for having his contributions to the franchise get disrespected using two words: “Isaiah who?”

The Boston Celtics own one of the richest histories among all NBA teams, and Thomas has had his fair share of entries on the Beantown team’s book of records. Last season, he averaged 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game to pave the way for Boston’s grabbing of the East’s top seed. He was an MVP contender. He carried the Celtics, despite being on a limp, through two postseason rounds until his body decided that he can’t walk properly anymore.

That is the Isaiah Thomas who’s driven by his passion and huge heart for the game. The player now eagerly anticipated by the Cavs to provide significant spark on offense next to LeBron James and Kevin Love when he returns to court.

For now, Thomas can use all the disrespect to fuel himself further as he works his way to full health. If the stars align and the Cavs face the Celtics in the playoffs, someone will definitely be motivated.

For what it’s worth, Chris Forsberg, the author of the story, has since addressed Thomas’ reaction.
