The Cleveland Cavaliers have been hit with the injury bug and it’s finally catching up to them. Rookie Evan Mobley sprained his right elbow last Monday in a loss to the Boston Celtics. The Cavs have not won since, losing the next three games.

Tuesday, Cavs head coach J.B. Bickerstaff addressed the progress of Evan Mobley’s injury.

It initially sounded like things might be progressing well, but then he changes his tune a bit. That leaves many scratching their heads.

Cavs guard Collin Sexton has missed the majority of the season already and will be out the rest of the year. Mobley’s injury has made it that much more difficult. Starting center Jarrett Allen also missed a few games recently with an illness (not COVID related). That significantly hurt the Cavs front court presence in recent games. However, Allen returned Monday night and looked like himself.

Allen posted 20 points and 15 rebounds in his return. They lost to Brooklyn, but were in the game late. Hopefully for Cleveland that is a good sign. After all, the losing streak has come against the Celtics, Nets twice and the Warriors.

A few weeks into the season, the Cavs were the talk of the NBA. They were surprising a lot of people and were near the top of the deep Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately, the injuries are catching up to them. The Cavs are now 9-9 and in the midst of a four game losing streak. They have fallen to 10th place in the East. Things are not going to get any easier as Cleveland squares off with the Phoenix Suns Friday night.
