The Cleveland Cavaliers have released a statement regarding the tragic death of Ericka Weems, who was the sister of the Cavs’ Director of Scouting, Brandon Weems.

Ericka, 37, was found shot dead in her Akron home on Monday afternoon. Former Cavs superstar small forward LeBron James and the Weems family grew up together in Akron, Ohio.

“The entire Cavaliers organization was terribly saddened to learn about the recent tragic death of Brandon Weems’ sister Ericka. Our hearts are heavy and filled with pain over this senseless act. We express our deepest condolences to Brandon, the entire Weems family, their loved ones, and the Akron community. We will be with Brandon throughout this extremely difficult time and will offer our assistance and resources to help find justice for Ericka.”

LeBron and Brandon Weems are lifelong friends. The Cavs legend took to Twitter earlier on Wednesday to voice his disgust and sadness.

Cavs power forward Larry Nance Jr. is also calling on Akron to find Ericka Weems’ killer.

This is certainly a really sad situation. The Cavs franchise will use its resources to try and get justice for Ericka Weems by all means necessary.

LeBron, the best player in Cavs franchise history, will also do everything in his power to get justice for someone he cared deeply for.
